WHO WE ARE
Take A Stand is the Youth Movement for the Kingston-upon-Thames Catholic Deanery, UK.
Its main activities include catechesis, building international solidarity among young Catholics and providing them with inspiration on a day-to-day basis.
One of the main strengths of this network of young Catholics has been the flexibility of being a Youth Movement for a Deanery rather than just a single parish. Currently, Take A Stand runs most of her activities from St Joseph's, New Malden. In the past, St Raphael's Church, Kingston, was the Mother Church of Take A Stand, when 4 friends started the group in 2011. In Summer 2016, at World Youth Day in Krakow, our pilgrimage group will comprise pilgrims from across the local network.

"Do you know what the best tool is for evangelizing the young? Another young person. This is the path to follow!" - Pope Francis, WYD 2013
Starting in January 2012 with only 4 members, Take A Stand is now serving 6 parish Churches.

"Help each other to live and to grow in the Christian faith so as to be valiant witnesses of the Lord. Be united, but not closed. Be humble, but not fearful. Be simple, but not naive. Be thoughtful, but not complicated. Enter into dialogue with others, but be yourselves." - Pope Benedict, 2008

HOW DID WE START?
At Madrid WYD 2011, millions of young catholics were inspired by the theme 'Firmes en la Fe - Standing firm in the Faith.' We were among them. Returning to the UK, we were inspired by three goals: learning the catechism of the Catholic Faith (see YouCat), spreading the message to others and becoming faithful followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. TAS has grown into a vibrant network, organising regular events and continually seeking to find new, innovative ways, of evangelisation.
